There are an estimated 70,000 children currently in primary school with some form of
Speech and Language Communication Need. That is 2-3 in EVERY classroom who will struggle to understand, communicate or follow direction - or have all three. This impacts literacy, numeracy and creating and maintaining peer relationships.
Children & young adults with SLCN are 6 times more likely to have CLINICAL levels of anxiety &/or depression.
Communication is a basic human right.
Speech therapy, provided early, gives our children the best and ONLY chance.
There are currently 45,000 children on waiting lists to access public services.
Donating and fundraising directly helps to ease the financial burden felt by many.
2023 Half Ironman Cork
Charlie's Dad Will Byrne completed the 2023 Half Ironman in Cork in August this year to ensure that we can increase our bursary funds and help as many families as we can.
2023 Virtual Run
Our 3rd annual Virtual Run event kick started Verbal Dyspraxia Awareness Day on May14th 2023.
100% of all proceeds made created bursaries for families to access funds to pay for assessments / therapies.
2022 Ironman Cork
Will (daddy to Charlie) completed the 2022 Ironman Cork in a bid to raise much needed funds to support children and to continue our communication board innitiative. This was a gruelling course covering a 3.8km swim, 180km bike ride and finishing with a 42.2km run! Every stroke, pedal and footstep was made in Charlie's name and in the name of every single child out there that needed help and support.
